Abadía Sta Maria de Guadalupe Ahuatepec

Sta Maria de Guadalupe Abbey was founded in 1957 in Cuernavaca-Morelos (Mexico) by the community of Benedictine Sisters of Ermeton-sur-Biert, itself founded in 1917 by Dom Eugène Vandeur, a monk from Maredsous, in a spirit of openness to today's needs (flexible enclosure, welcoming guests, participatory liturgy, biblical formation...).

The community in Santa Maria (Cuernavaca) was canonically erected on October 15, 1957. The monastery, which became the abbey, has been located in Ahuatepec since 1968. Today it has 12 nuns residing respectively in Ahuatepec (Mexico) and Maredsous (Belgium).

The nuns of Ahuatepec celebrate the liturgy in Spanish and Latin. They engage in hospitality, making altar bread and liturgical vestments.

Since July 11, 2020, they have canonically integrated four nuns from their founding monastery into their community.

Benedictines of  Moulin (Maredsous)

The Monastery of Our Lady of Ermeton-sur-Biert having been suppressed by a decree of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life (CIVCSVA), dated January 9, 2020. Four of its members - respectively Mexican, Swiss, Belgian and Korean - anxious to continue the monastic life in the spirit of their community of origin, were moved in the immediate neighborhood of the abbey of Maredsous, at the place called "le Moulin" (rue de Maredsous 7 - 5537 Denée). Canonically they belong to the community of Ahuatepec.

In addition to the Divine Office celebrated with the monks, daily Bible study and manual work, they collaborate in the training and hospitality of the communities of Maredsous and Maredret.
