On January 8, 2021, the historic event took place at the Annunciation Monastery in Biskupów / POLAND.
The Abbot President Maksymilian Nawara OSB and Izaak Kapała OSB the prior conventual of Lubiń, Szymon Hiżycki OSB the abbot of Tyniec, Marcin Gromadecki OSB the prior conventual of Biskupów signed the declaration of cooperation on behalf of their communities. The subject of cooperation is the newly established Benedictine foundation in Lviv / Ukraine.
We read in the Declaration:
In response to the invitation of His Excellency Mieczysław Mokrzycki Archbishop of Lviv of December 29, 2020, addressed to the Abbot President Maksymilian Nawara OSB and the request of the Benedictine nuns from Zhytomyr for pastoral assistance and the Benedictine formation of the newly established Benedictine Foundation in Lviv,
with a sense of responsibility and with joy, we undertake the pastoral care of the rectoral church of St. Benedict in Lviv - Sołonka and the chaplaincy in the St. Joseph newly established convent of the Benedictine nuns.
At the same time, we hope that the initiation of the Benedictine presence in Ukraine will be the first step on the way to the creation of a foundation and canonical erection of a male monastery.
